That's a powerful concept and the way you've expressed it has got my gears turning. If you don't mind, I'll probably end up writing about it. It's wicked early and I've got to be off soon, but I'm going to be thinking about it.

Cheers to your granddaughter and her "Bob!" :-)Bill Conwayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16101525260347714309noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2703847687174045960.post-5447133146925172492011-01-24T07:00:24.271-05:002011-01-24T07:00:24.271-05:00You know Bill, all we want in life is to be evenly...You know Bill, all we want in life is to be evenly yoken. To meet that one person who we feel at one with, I have a dream of that. I wonder how many actually find it. I believe its a matter of waiting and having that faith in God to believe, it will happen, in His time.
My granddaughter married last September, she is 22yrs.There were never any boyfriends, she wasn't interested in just going out for the same of having a boyfriend. The man she married was her friend at church for 2 yrs. She only saw him as just that, a good friend. He on the other hand was watching her. Finally and with much romance he wooed her. He has an Asian background so I was unsure. But she was very sure for the first time. The are so happy. I love to see him piggyback her..they still play together. Yes, someone similar to yourself,is the perfect match.Sr Crystal Mary Lindseyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03509227559164880311noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2703847687174045960.post-84749300205486913642011-01-23T09:57:34.365-05:002011-01-23T09:57:34.365-05:00Jessie and Bob are showing us what a relationship ...Jessie and Bob are showing us what a relationship can look like when two people are genuinely, intentionally, and consciously in love.

A lot of times, being in love results in the repetition of unconscious intentions and behaviors that result in pain and dissatisfaction. But that doesn't happen between Bob and Jessie because both of them are pretty darned self-aware, having been raised in families where there was love, compassion, and respect between parents and children. Neither was perfect in the sense it represented a "Leave it to Beaver" family -- Jessie lost her mother when she was 13, Bob's dad was considerably older than most and died when Bob was 35. So, both have experienced the kind of formative experience that eventually characterizes adulthood.

Furthermore, Bob has been married and divorced, and has undergone something of a career change, albeit a lateral one, from opthalmology to pediatrics. As a result, both characters have had to deal with grief and loss. But each one of them was prepared by the love of family to come through it with their self-hood intact. Neither one feels the unconscious need to use romantic relationships to shore up an insecure or inadequate personal identity.

It's a story about knowing what and who you want and being willing to wait for them. It's about taking risks and working through doubts and fears. It's about refusing to accept a role that is socially-prescribed and instead, being willing to go after what really matters.

About To Kill a Mockingbird, being a fan of Gregory Peck, I've seen the movie several times, but never read the book. But after yesterday's post, I've realized I need to read it in order to understand Jessie better. And also to see what the movie left out! :-)

Thanks!!Bill Conwayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16101525260347714309noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2703847687174045960.post-56874764195949367752011-01-22T21:37:14.765-05:002011-01-22T21:37:14.765-05:00Harmony, complete serenity, love it.
