The first time I did plum puddings I poured brandy over one and stood there with a match in my hand, wondering why so much liquor wouldn't light. So, my uncle said to me, "Don't you have to warm it first?" I said, "I did warm it, it's just out of the oven." He responded, "No, the brandy." It calls for dried fruit from Cross & Blackwell's small boxes. It's steamed for about 1.5 hours and then, if one has a flair for the dramatic, it's carried in flaming, brandy having been warmed and poured over it. I thought it might be fossilized by the time we wanted to eat it, but I guess all the brandy exerted a preservative effect, because no one got sick and it tasted pretty good. Hope yours comes out well!

By the way, I'll take plum pudding over fruit cake any day.Bill Conwayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16101525260347714309noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2703847687174045960.post-30137631344315835592009-12-22T17:04:21.461-05:002009-12-22T17:04:21.461-05:00I still want to steam one pudding while I listen t...I still want to steam one pudding while I listen to the Service of Nine Lessons and Carols on BBC 3.EHChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12257031379237071891noreply@blogger.com
