For me, if I had a choice, it would be the final portion of Brahm's Academic Festival Overture.

I know, it was composed from drinking songs of the time, but it has always been my favorite classical piece and oddly enough, whenever I've been studying for exams, Denver's KVOD manages to play it. I think that's always been a gift of grace, and I'd love to have it played at graduation.Bill Conwayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16101525260347714309noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2703847687174045960.post-26198973092681166112010-05-22T09:40:12.273-04:002010-05-22T09:40:12.273-04:00SMU has university commencement in the morning, an...SMU has university commencement in the morning, and Perkins follows with its hooding and diploma ceremony in the afternoon. Most Perkins people just go to the afternoon ceremony.

Before mine, the music department and I are going to talk. I don't want to process to something modern and atonal; I want "Pomp and Circumstance No. 1" for the procession in and, as Bruce calls it, "my Elgar fix" for the procession out. "Land of Hope and Glory" or "Orb and Scepter" will do just fine. I'm a dinosaur, not a guinea pig, and it doesn't so to experiment with me.EHChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12257031379237071891noreply@blogger.com
