I try to write what I think people can relate to and hope we connect on some level. It's always a pleasure when that happens, even if only briefly. I hope you found what you were looking for -- I love Johnson's interpretation of those two fairy tales and their applicability never seems to grow old. My best to you as well.

Bill Conwayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16101525260347714309noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2703847687174045960.post-28808664202444855972012-10-13T12:17:42.103-04:002012-10-13T12:17:42.103-04:00This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.Robert Winer, M.D.https://www.blogger.com/profile/07682820699055142236noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2703847687174045960.post-43676365216046498692012-10-13T12:14:39.869-04:002012-10-13T12:14:39.869-04:00"I didn't say it then, but I really haven..."I didn't say it then, but I really haven't spent my adulthood with my head buried in the sand, fearful seeing the world as it was would sully my spiritual sensibilities. If I ever had them, and I feel sure I must have, they've been knocked down, brick and stone, by my own fallibility. A religion that's only good for Sunday morning rarely has much value the rest of the week. Some clerics like the interpersonal distance a collar or title provides; I like risking honesty. I like people who are sufficiently real to swear and not give a damn whether I notice."

[Wow. I feel the tremendous tension here as well a deep thoughtful-ness.]

"In any case, I wasn't eager to put on my minister's hat quite yet and my friend couldn't see me wearing anything else. It's going to take some time. I'll go back to get my snow treads installed, and we'll talk again. Maybe eventually we can find a middle ground, one where he's him, I'm me, and we let the chips fall where they may."

These are very personal musings, an honesty that demands that the old persona no longer be automatic.

Was browsing the web on google search "Robert Johnson "The Fisher King and the Handless Maiden"" and came across your blog.

I wish you the best in your pursuits.Robert WIner, M.D.http://rwinermd.comnoreply@blogger.com
